I was lucky enough to photograph the rehearsals for the performance of ‘Sleeping Beauty’ by Kezia Mitchell’s wonderful Vacani Ballet school, Marylebone a few months ago. I often visit the Courtauld Gallery in London where I am inspired by the beautiful Post Impressionist paintings and drawings of ballerinas in rehearsal so was excited to do my own interpretation of this theme. I enjoyed the fact that the project gave the opportunity for gorgeous informal portraits, some Fine Art portraiture, and, perhaps my favourite kind of photographs, some funny and quirky moments such as the ballerina halfway up the climbing wall.

Love these! I especially like the one of the girl covering her face while she gets hair sprayed. Totally reminds me of my own daughter when we do that.
These are stunning! I love the film look of some of them. It’s hard to pick a favorite, but the 3rd one is so lovely!

These are lovely! I love the artistic feel to them while still capturing the mood.
