St John’s Wood Baby Photographer : 5 month old baby boy

Five month old babies are a delight to photograph and this little boy was adorable. I met him and his mother in their beautiful flat in St John’s Wood and we spent a relaxed morning getting to know one another:

By four or five months babies have grown out of their newborn phase and are showing much more personality. I loved this little boy’s expressive face…

Children’s Ballet Portraits : Central London Children’s Photographer

I was lucky enough to photograph the rehearsals for the performance of ‘Sleeping Beauty’ by Kezia Mitchell’s wonderful Vacani Ballet school, Marylebone a few months ago. I often visit the Courtauld Gallery in London where I am inspired by the beautiful Post Impressionist paintings and drawings of ballerinas in rehearsal so was excited to do my own interpretation of this theme. I enjoyed the fact that the project gave the opportunity for gorgeous informal portraits, some Fine Art portraiture, and, perhaps my favourite kind of photographs, some funny and quirky moments such as the ballerina halfway up the climbing wall.

Had a gorgeous afternoon on the Heath with these lovely 20 month old twins. The weather was perfect and the leaves are starting to turn yellow and gold. Kicking through leaves with toddlers in the sunshine is a great way to spend an afternoon:

I have photographed this actress with her family and she asked me recently to do some headshots and full length portraits of her to accompany a column she is writing for the Telegraph newspaper.

It’s always delightful to work with her and she is fantastic in front of the camera – perhaps as you might expect for someone who has been photographed by Rankin and David Bailey among others.

Children’s photos outdoors: central London child photographer

I have been so busy since getting back from our holidays that my blog has been languishing untouched, but starting with the last first, here is a photograph from an outdoors shoot yesterday when the weather and sunlight were beautiful for photos, and my subject couldn’t have been more perfect.

It was hard to choose photos from this session as there were so many beautiful ones, but this is one of my favourites because she is so absorbed in her world. She found a ‘nest’ of grass to sit in and is carefully feeding her toy rabbit.

I entered a national portrait photography competition a few months ago and am delighted to announce that I won first prize.

I think like all skills photography requires constant practice, and I have thousands of images of my family and friends as well as all my client work. When I read about the Portrait of the Year competition run by Photoanswers I looked through my archives for something that might match their brief of an image that stands out from the crowd. (To be honest, the one I picked is my favourite photo of my daughter – it makes me smile every time I look at it.)

These were taken during an afternoon spent playing with a joke pair of water-squirting glasses that came free with a Simpsons comic:

So a big thank you to Digital Photo and Practical Photography magazines for choosing my photograph, and thank you to my family for putting up with constant photos!

Marylebone Children’s Photographer : Marylebone Summer Fayre

It is the Marylebone Summer Fair this Sunday. We go every year and have a great time. The children love the bands in Paddington Street Gardens, dancing, candyfloss and the fairgrounds rides, and we love the relaxed atmosphere, catching up with all our friends, and of course, the Pimms!

The Fayre supports the charity Teenage Cancer Trust and local businesses volunteer and donate in various ways. The tombola has a fantastic selection of donated prizes and I was pleased to donate a voucher for a portrait shoot and framed print for this cause. Looking forward to posting photos from the event shortly, but in the meantime here are a couple from our day there last year.

Maida Vale baby photographer : Isabella

I was lucky enough to photograph Mattio when he was just a newborn and I was delighted to be asked to photograph his new baby sister Isabella and her parents in their beautiful home in Maida Vale.

I have so many gorgeous photographs of this family that I have had a difficult job choosing which to show. This photo of baby Isabella in her daddy’s arms is one of my favorites – she has such a soulful look, and her eyes are incredible:

It was great to be able to incorporate Abby’s beautiful room into the backdrop of these photos:

It’s one of the parts of this job that I most enjoy capturing the quiet moments when parents sit and look at their new baby. Working on location means that everyone is truly relaxed in their own environment – you can just feel the peaceful mood in this photo:
