These studio style portraits were taken with a mobile lighting set up on location in Marylebone, London W1.
They show what can be achieved using quite simple studio lighting. I like the serious expression on the girl’s face, and the graphic effect of the fringed black wool jacket. This photograph works well as a headshot for a college or drama school application, or as a classic portrait for parents whose sons or daughters are teenagers and fast becoming young adults. For more examples of photographs of children and teenagers from Marylebone and other Central London locations, please view the galleries here.
Studio headshots like this are useful for young actors or drama students, as well as performers. The lighting looks natural, and virtually indistinguishable from portraits lit by the soft light from large north facing windows.
(I am currently working with this photograph a lot as it is perfect for a beautiful type of printing paper that I am experimenting with at the moment – more about this later.)
